This restaurant was previously owned by the Forlino Family, now taken over by the famous il-Lido group which also owns il-Lido restaurant at Sentosa. 3 Star Michelin executive extradonaire chef Osvaldo Forlino, who is a part of the Forlino family, still runs the kitchen to ensure quality of food.
I was awed by the delightful ambiance of the Czech Republic-like facade of a palace restaurant, made me feel like royalty! The blue royal decorated in silver flowery patterned walls with its soft burgundy cushioned walls made it look exquisite. It overlooks the view of the Singapore River, Swissotel and the F1 Race Track.
We had the “Creation Menu Lunch” (S$68) for two person. The food was impeccable.
Amuse Bouche was a roll of smoked salmon with yogurt sauce to whet your appetite with 4 pieces of Italian home made freshly baked Focaccia bread with olive oil and sea salt. Tasted amazingly fresh to nibble on.
1st Course was prawns swimming in savoury sweet bean sauce. The prawns were elegant and fresh, grilled to perfection.
2nd Course was tagilioni pasta paired with asparagus and cod fish. The pasta was amazingly cooked al dente, served warm in its broth of fish consommé, cheese and white wine sauce. Excellent combination of ingredients used for the dish!
3rd Course for myself was Wagyu Braised Beef Cheek with thyme leaves. The meat just melted in my mouth and swirled around beautifully! The sauce was great with red wine sauce and beef jus(beef natural sauce). The thyme leaves complimented each savoury bite with a tinge of mint taste.
For another alternative, the kurobuta pork was grilled to tenderness in 3 different cuts – ribs, deep-fried minced pork trotters and sliced pork fillet pork accompanied with pumpkin sauce and turnips.
For dessert, I had apple crumble tart which consists of a delightful combination of fresh crunchy apples, raisins and pine nuts cooked in saffron sauce. The fillings were sandwiched between two pieces of crunchy thin-crusted pastry. That is definitely a mind-blowing dessert with “3D surround effect” flavors that makes you crave for more.
My partner had the dark truffle cake which is hand-made by the chef. It was divine chocolatey goodness! There is no whip cream or any sinful ingredients (except the chocolate), definitely the ideal dessert for my partner’s birthday lunch. Though I wish we had a bigger slice of cake!
Petit Fours were almond cookie, truffle chocolate (it melts in the mouth!) and vanilla meringue(light and airy and extremely sweet…) with a choice of fine tea or gourmet coffee.
The service assistant manager,Mr Prabakaran, was extremely hospitable and fun loving! He made jokes all the time when he lifted the bell shaped metal lids of our food! I enjoyed my lunch at Forlino and would definitely be back for another meal.
