Dinner @ Jumbo Seafood Restaurant

Jumbo @ Riverside
Yo~! Woah. I had dinner with XF on Friday at Kallang Indoor theatre side. We went to Jumbo restaurant for some seafood escapade. However, the food was mediocre!

Salted egg fried prawns
The award winning salted egg stir fried prawns was a dismay while I tried to “imagine” that it had the 4 flavours of the vast oceans! It was a complete letdown, though the live prawns were just fresh.

Frog leg
The frog legs with spring onion and ginger was quite nice, though XF say that Geylang has a fresher and bigger frog leg portion. “CS would say kid size!”

fried rice
The medium sized fried rice was totally too much for us with plenty of bits of prawns and scallops sprinkled around, a tad too dry. I had a Cod fish with Chye poh on top. Bcos the cod fish was so melt in yr mouth, it felt like I was eating high class chwee kueh! Service was prompt and understanding.

At cold storage I found the charlie’s honestly fruit juices. Which I deliberated on buying the Old fashioned Blackcurrant and Raspberry lemonade, old fashioned mango and orange, old fashioned lemonade 500ml $4.45. However, I was influenced by this week’s issue of ST-URBAN section, posh nosh writer: Ms Tan Hsueh Yun decided to try the Honest Superfood smoothie with Spirulina, her write up is what i concur upon after testing it out. $7.80 for 1 litre.

Charlie's juices
Here it goes: The green color is off-putting but the smoothie is satisfyingly thick and fruity.
The banana, apple and kiwi purees and the cloudy apple and orange juices mask the taste of the spirulina, a kind of nutritious algae that can taste quite fishy.
